Frequently asked questions
2009 COURSES:
When will PRINCE2®: 2009 be released? The New Manual is being officially launched on 16th June 2009. ANTS will be using the new materials and exams from JANUARY 2010.
Will I need an upgrade or bridging course, if I already have the Practitioner 2005 qualification? There is not an official upgrade or bridging course, and users are not obligated to upgrade.
I am already a qualified PRINCE2® Practitioner 2005 and would like to upgrade now. How do I do that? ANTS are offering the following courses:-
- 3 day - includes Accredited PRINCE2® Practitioner Exam & the new PRINCE2® 2009 Manual.
The new PRINCE2® 2009 manual can be bought from ANTS.
2005 COURSES:
I have taken PRINCE2® Foundation 2005 and would like to upgrade toPractitioner – so which version should I take? Or, I am a PRINCE2® Practitioner 2005 & need to reregister this year. What is the best course option for me?
If you are able to book on one of our courses UNTIL END OF YEAR this would be the simplest option as the Practitioner training materials will be consistent with your PRINCE2® manual and Foundation 2005 knowledge. Alternatively, book on a full 5-day 2009 version course or the 3-day Practitioner 2009 preparation and examination; this option will require more preparation, as familiarisation with the PRINCE2®: 2009 manual is necessary prior to attending a Practitioner course (Thursday to Friday).
What if the rest of my company uses the 2005 version and they want me to train in that version?
Public courses will be running until the end of 2009. In-company courses can be arranged until 31st December 2009 if there are a minimum of 6 delegates who wish to take this course.
EXAMINATIONS:
Will changes be made to the examinations?
Examinations are changing during 2009. These changes to exam design and grading will apply to both the 2005 and 2009 PRINCE2® method versions with effect from July 2009. Foundation exam will still have 75 questions but 5 of the questions will be “trial questions” that will not be marked. The pass mark will remain at 50% (ie 35/70). Questions will be based more on understanding, than knowing the method. Practitioner exam format will be the same, but each Topic will now contain 12 questions and each will attract 1 mark. The time allowed will be reduced from 3 hours to 2.5 hours. The pass mark will be increased to 55%.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Will the current PRINCE2® Qualifications be different as a result of the change to the new version?
No. There are no plans to change from the current, Foundation and Practitioner qualifications..
Will my PRINCE2® qualification still be valid after the launch?
Yes. PRINCE2® Foundation is valid for life and Practitioner for 5 years from the date that you sat the exam.
Will my existing qualification still count when applying for jobs?
Yes. You have a PRINCE2® qualification regardless of the version studied. However if you wish you can quote the edition on your CV (eg. PRINCE2® Practitioner Version 2002, 2005 or 2009).
As I am now PRINCE2® qualified, are there any additional PRINCE2 qualifications to study?
Possibly, in the near future. A new manual ‘Directing a Project with PRINCE2®’ is under development and consideration is being given to a new examination. Currently no date set for publication of Directing a Project. Think 2010, if released.
