Philip van Antwerpen

Philip obtained his BSc (Qs) degree in 1990 and registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor after successfully completing his board examinations in 1993.  In the same year he received his Project Management Diploma from the School of Project Management. In 2004 he also obtained the PRINCE2® foundations and PRINCE2® practitioner certification.

He has been involved with various projects over the past seventeen years, specialising in the project management environment.  He has also gained valuable experience as Senior Project Co-ordinator, Group Project Planner and Group Estimator for the Gold Fields Group in the project management fields.  His experience as a Mining Investment Analyst, analysing and evaluating business opportunities, adds to his wide field of expertise.

His building experience as Qs included hostels, township developments and building of houses, office buildings, upgrading and renovations of various buildings and the Protea hotel.  As Senior Project Co-ordinator he was responsible for the project management of approximately seventy projects at any point in time, co-ordinating the various functions such as Town Planners, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, clients and contractors.

Philip has been actively involved with the project management functions for the Deelkraal mine deepening project, Northam Platinum mine deepening project, Tarkwa Gold Mine, various environmental projects and numerous property related projects on the mines.  He was appointed to project manage the transitional phase for GFSA before he formed Ants in 1998.  Since the formation of Ants he has successfully completed the following:

  • the relocation of GFM&D to their new offices involving all disciplines
  • project managed various Y2k projects
  • business risk analysis and impact assessments for De Beers and Debtech assessing their “as is” business processes and developed a more streamline approach for the Administrative and Production departments.
  • building &  facilities management
  • develop building specification &  process procedures for Concor
  • project managed various projects for the Absa group
  • assessed the “as is” high level business processes in Absa Direct  and facilitated the sign-off of proposed new processes
  • implemented project management and processes for Absa Direct
  • implemented project management and processes for Absa Call centre
  • project managed Remedial project for Barclays Botswana
  • project managed Outsourcing cash handling Pan Africa (Ghana, Zambia, Botswana and Kenya)
  • Business consulting and Process mapping for CPC
  • Project managed Outsourcing cash handling Pan Africa (Uganda, Tanzania and Egypt)
